(September 9th, 2014) The end of August 2014 found the Buffalo Niagara Film Office supporting yet another thrilling demonstration of athletic ability, as the Red Bull Wakeskating Team descended on the Erie Canal in Lockport, NY to “Pop the Locks”.
With supervision from the Niagara County Sheriff’s Marine Division and special permission from the New York State Thruway Authority, and the City of Lockport, the Red Bull Team spent 2 days navigating the Erie Canal, going through the lock system. and then hitting the base of the historic Flight of Five lock system where they attached a special winch system to perform the difficult challenge of jumping from one lock to the next. After numerous tries by two of the best Wake-skaters in the world Brian Grubb and Andrew Pastura ……success!!!
