(October 9th, 2013) An exclusive sneak-preview of 40 year-old Troma Entertainment’s Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1, directed by legendary auteur Lloyd Kaufman, will be held at Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival in Buffalo, New York on Saturday, November 9th at 9:30 pm at Dispon’s Amherst Theatre, 3500 Main Street. Kaufman will be present for a Q&A following the event. Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 will begin U.S. theater distribution in January 2014. Kaufman will be honored with the festival’s Dedication to Excellence in Independent Filmmaking Award on Sunday, November 10th. Previous recipients of the award include Debbie Rochon and Roy Frumkes. Admission is only $8.00.
At Kaufman’s request, all proceeds from this exclusive preview will be donated to the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center (NACC), a 501(C)(3) non-for-profit organization in Niagara Falls, where much of Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 was shot. Kaufman says “I am delighted to express my appreciation to the NACC and to return the generosity of the loving Niagara/Buffalo citizens that do so much to support independent art and Troma.”
“This is a coup for our festival,” says Buffalo Dreams co-director Gregory Lamberson. “Lloyd created The Toxic Avenger, a seminal film which has influenced a whole generation of mainstream filmmakers from Tarantino to Eli Roth to James Gunn. Genre fans are now waiting to see Return to Nuke ‘Em High Volume 1 in order to discover what happens next in Tromaville. We get to preview the film and honor Lloyd Kaufman the same weekend.”
Return to Nuke ‘Em High: Volume 1 is a hilarious, thoughtful sci-fi Event Film with themes ripped straight from today’s headlines: the contamination and degradation of the world’s food supply, rampant bullying, LGBTQ love triumphing over prejudice and violence. The film is a revisiting of Troma’s 1986 cult Class of Nuke ‘Em High. Troma Entertainment is one of the longest-running independent movie studios in United States history and Kaufman’s body of work has been cited as influence by Peter Jackson, Quentin Tarantino, Takashi Miike, Eli Roth, and James Gunn just to name a few.
Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival will show over 80 movies from around the world Friday, November 8th – Thursday, November 14th.

“We wanted to create an international film festival unlike any other in Buffalo or Western New York,” says festival co-founder Gregory Lamberson. “Part of that plan involved expanding the scope of our programming to include science fiction, fantasy, horror, action, thrillers, animation, cult and fan films. I’m happy to say we’ll be screening quality films in every one of those categories from all over the world. Chris and I are thrilled by how many filmmakers from outside Buffalo – outside the country! – will be joining us.”
The awards ceremony will be held in the theater on Sunday, November 10th. Advance tickets will go on sale at Dipson Theatres’ website this week.
Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival is sponsored by Off Beat Cinema, Alternative Cinema, Seeley and Kane’s Books and Comics, and Western New York Grip & Electric. (October 8th, 2013) The first Buffalo Film Expo will be held on Sunday, November 3rd at the Holiday Inn Buffalo Airport, 4600 Genesee Street in Cheektowaga, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm. The event, which will feature a vendors’ room and panel discussions by local film professionals, is a joint effort between Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival and local promoter Ted Hanes. Admission is only $5.00.
“Our goal is to bring as many local filmmakers and film enthusiasts from the Buffalo-Niagara-Rochester area together under one roof as possible,” says Gregory Lamberson, who co-directs Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival with Chris Scioli. “We have a large community of professional crew members, semi-pro feature filmmakers, aspiring filmmakers, craftsmen, actors and film students in Buffalo, which is one of the reasons we started Buffalo Dreams in the first place. As hard as it is to believe, we’re spread out and disconnected, except maybe for the Buffalo Niagara Film Professionals page on Facebook. With Buffalo Film Expo, we want to provide an educational forum and networking base for filmmakers of all levels of experience. We’ve made the admission low so anyone can attend.”
The first component of the expo is the vendor room, where local production companies, actors and filmmakers can represent themselves to the community, and dealers can sell DVDs, comic books and other merchandise. The second component is the panel discussions by area professionals who will take questions from the audience. Panelists and discussions scheduled so far include: Buffalo Niagara Film Commissioner Tim Clark and Operations Director Rich Wall on working with the film commission; cinematographers Chris Santucci, Matthew Nardone and Clint Byrne on shooting for film and television; Frank Rossi and Bryan Patrick Stoyle on the business side of acting and casting; and Joel Reisnikoff on art direction and production design. All guests are contingent upon availability, and more will be added.
Interested vendors should contact buffalofilmexpo@gmail.com. Buffalo Film Expo precedes Buffalo Dreams Fantastic Film Festival, which runs Friday, November 8th – Thursday, November 14th at the Dipson Amherst Theater.

(October, 4th, 2013) Buffalo Native Ray Guarnieri screens his “Buffalo Boys” this Sunday, October 5th, at the Buffalo International Film Festival Screening Room location. Buffalo Boys is an Award Winning Feature Film, which brought home a “Best Film” award at the 2013 Manhattan Film Festival, as well as “Best Crime Drama” at the 2013 International Indie Gathering Film Festival in Cleveland, OH.
Inspired by a true story, “Buffalo Boys” follows the life of IAN, a 15 year old living in Buffalo, NY. After discovering the man who raised him is not his biological father, Ian’s world is turned upside down as he heads down a path of self destruction and murder.
His mother, MARY-ANN, refuses to name his real father, fueling Ian’s desire to escape suburbia. His girlfriend, LINDSAY, urges him to stay and work things out, while his best friend, DANIEL, continues to lead him down a violent path.
Together, the boys sell drugs to make money- until their dealer, MAXINE, offers an easier way to get rich quick…
In 2009, after the murder of the childhood friend from whose life “Buffalo Boys” is inspired, Director Raymond Guarnieri began revisiting experiences and writing the screenplay. Early in the process, fellow producer Mckenzie Trent and writer Elana Lott joined him and together they completed the screenplay over a 9-month period.
From the outset, The Better StirFry Team, consisting of Matt Tester, Jason Montalvo, Guarnieri and Trent, insisted on shooting the movie on-location in Western New York, both for the sake of authenticity, and because of the richness of the region in resources. In July 2012, the “Buffalo Boys” project was pre-approved for the NYS Tax Incentive for Filmmakers, making it the smallest-budget film ever to pass the high standards of the program.
The “Better” Team completed production of the film in 23 days in August 2012. Post-Production began immediately until the film was completed in late February 2013.

(August 26th, 2013) Great news from producer Greg Lamberson….
Principal photography has wrapped on The Legend of Six Fingers, the second feature from writer-director Sam Qualiana, in Royalton, New York. Qualiana, who stars in the film with local actor Andrew Elias, previously helmed Snow Shark: Ancient Snow Beast. Debbie Rochon and Lynn Lowry co-star in the found footage monster film, which was produced by Greg Lamberson (Slime City Massacre, Dry Bones) and executive produced by Michael Raso of Camp Motion Pictures.
Qualiana and Elias portray two amateur filmmakers documenting a string of animal slaughters in rural Royalton. They interview a farm couple (Lowry and newcomer Bill Brown) who tell them the Native American legend of “Ya Yahk Osnuhsa,” an apelike creature with three fingers on each hand. Generations ago, “Six Fingers” stalked settlers who invaded his land, until one settler agreed to keep people off the creature’s territory and to make animal offerings. The filmmakers set out to prove that Six Fingers exists and is responsible for the animal slayings, with terrifying results.
“We wrapped principle photography in just thirteen days,” says Qualiana, who shot the film in character. “I give credit to my cast and small crew for being on the ball each shoot
day. I’ve been editing the film during down time, and I’m proud of what we have. People will laugh when they see the finished film, they’re going to sympathize with these characters and still get that taste of horror and gore. The monster is going to blow you away. We worked really hard to make this something fun.”
“This was a real smooth shoot,” adds Lamberson. “We came in on budget and ahead of schedule. We put together a solid cast and crew, and in the last year most of us have had a hand in Model Hunger, Return to Nuke ‘Em High, Battledogs, Dry Bones and now The Legend of Six Fingers. We’re trying to make Buffalo-Niagara the indie horror capital of the country, with smart movies made by hardworking, talented people.”

The Legend of Six Fingers will have its world premiere in Buffalo on September 26th, at the Market Arcade Film and Arts Center, and a distribution deal will be announced soon.
